Hawaii Five-0 season 8 episode 5 spoilers: The Halloween episode!
If you do want a few specifics, the new synopsis below has those:
“Kama’oma’o, ka ‘aina huli hana” – At Halloween, Five-0 must investigate a string of murders that mirror stories from well-known Hawaiian folklore. Also, Grover is called to visit a man hours away from execution who may hold the key to a case that has plagued Grover for years, on HAWAII FIVE-0, Friday, Nov. 3 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
There’s obviously a lot for us at CarterMatt to be excited to see here, starting of course with the case itself. It’s going to be creepy, and it seems as though there is one major clue the team can tick off right away: Whoever is behind many of these murders obviously does harbor a deep understanding of Hawaiian tradition and folklore. Otherwise, there’s no way that they could recreate stories in an accurate fashion. The fact that they are committing grisly murders, and more than one of them, suggests that there’s a certain element of instability here, as well.
As for the Grover storyline we’re down for this just in the way that we’re down for any plot that puts Grover at the center of a case. He is a smart, resourceful man, but what makes him so interesting are his demons. We don’t love to see him suffer but Chi McBride does have a tendency to hit almost all of the material he’s given right out of the park.
The hardest part of this episode is simply going to be waiting for it, given that it’s a Halloween episode that is technically scheduled to air later than Halloween. Nonetheless we do have a feeling that this should prove to be a worthwhile hour that has a lot of cool twists and gets us back in the spirit — even if we’ve wolfed down all of our readily-available candy by that time.
