Grey’s Anatomy season 14 spoilers: Meet Levi (‘Glasses’) and other interns
Now, we’ve got some confirmation that Levi is going to be one of several recurring interns that we’re getting a chance to see for the bulk of this season. Some of the other recurring additions to this season are going to be Extant alum Rushi Kota as Vik, NCIS actor Alex Blue Davis as Casey, newcomer Jaicy Elliot as Taryn, Bunheads alum Jeanine Mason as Sam, and former Faking It actress Sophia Taylor Ali as Dahlia. These interns fill in some of the cracks at the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, as they will help out with cases and figure out the right way in order to ensure that the job gets done — while probably screwing up every step of the way.
What effectively makes interns so important on this show is that it sets up a good farm system for the series to eventually make some promotions — provided, of course, that this is how they want to go about confirming talent for arcs down the road. If one of the major characters leave, there is an opportunity to put one of the other characters into a more prominent spot in the cast. This is a show that has been on the air roughly for a decade and a half, so there is going to be some turnover here and there at this point. They’re lucky to have as many original cast members as they still do in Ellen Pompeo, Justin Chambers, Chandra Wilson, and James Pickens Jr.
You’ll start to see some of these interns who you haven’t seen already in the weeks to come, and with that, hopefully you’ll also learn a little bit more about them. It’s often hard to be a Grey’s Anatomy intern in that for the most part you’re never that positively received right away. However, over time that sentiment changes and you start to see people become more and more on your side. Hopefully this is something that we have a chance to see continue here and that the producers have come up with interesting ways to make these characters interesting.
