Hillary Clinton talks Donald Trump’s ‘Rocket Man’ comments on The Late Show
Rocket Man is obviously a reference to Kim Jong-un, the leader of North Korea; he has been in a war of words and statements often with the President, and there are no signs of that slowing down in the slightest. Trump made his latest comments, including the aforementioned nickname, while speaking to the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday morning. Clinton gives her response to Colbert on the subject, and in what should be a surprise to almost no one, it was pretty clear that she didn’t like much of what he had to say to them. The Rocket Man comment in particular seems to be the icing on the cake, and it is probably what everyone will remember.
Is antagonizing one of the most dangerous world leaders out there a great move? We’re not exactly sure on that, and Clinton clearly seems to agree.
Now, is this interview entertainment value? Much of this at the moment depends heavily on how you feel about Clinton and also you tolerance level for the sort of political discourse that we’ve seen all over the news cycle as of late. To be honest, it’s exhausting to hear so much about it time and time again, even if we agree with much of what’s out there. Even if most of her comments are expected, we’re still glad to see Clinton on this media tour just because she has a perspective that is so singular and unique. It’s not about her doing what the Democrats or anyone else wants; it’s about her sharing her perspective as someone who has been through the fire and experienced things on the campaign trail and beyond that very few people out there would. If you had an opportunity to get someone this unique on your show, why in the world would you not want to do that? This is just what makes the most sense!
Also worth noting is what a quick turnaround this interview is for Colbert, given that he just hosted the Emmys a number of nights ago before heading back over to do his own show.
