Hawaii Five-0 season 8 episode 2 spoilers: First look at Chris Vance’s return

Earlier this year, it was reported that Chris Vance would be coming back for Hawaii Five-0 season 8 episode 2 airing in early October. Now, CarterMatt has a few more details about why he’s going to be coming back! British spy Harry Langford is the sort of character who is called upon for very specific missions; at times, there are some cases where a man of his prestige needs to be called on to help out. Over the course of this episode (which is entitled “Kāu pahi, ko’u kua. Kāu pū, ko’u po’o,” or “Your Knife, My Back. My Gun, Your Head”), you’re going to see one of these missions play out.

In addition to the photo above giving you a brief taste of what Vance will be up to, the Hawaii Five-0 season 8 episode 2 synopsis below offers up some additional insight:

“Five-0 enlists the help of an old friend when the boss of a major crime family is murdered, triggering revenge killings across the island. Also, MacGarrett and Danny begin sorting out particulars in their new restaurant venture.”

What is Vance going to be bringing to the table? Obviously his charisma is one thing, but probably a skill that makes you wonder if he would be well-suited for his own spin-off show. Who wouldn’t want to watch a show with a British super-spy tackling serious problems in the world? Basically, this could end up being somewhat akin to a Hawaii Five-0 James Bond hybrid story.

As for the other major storyline in this episode, CarterMatt has already reported that Steve and Danny are going to be looking towards their future in the form of this restaurant. This doesn’t mean that they are giving up their day job right now, but it is something that they have circled as a future goal that they would like to achieve (more of Danny wants a restaurant and Steve has hitched his wagon to the idea). Over the course of this season, we imagine that there are going to be opportunities to see the two of them slowly move in that direction before eventually figuring out whether or not this is something that they can even pull off. Starting a restaurant is often not as easy as it seems on many other TV shows; there’s a huge financial commitment, you need to have the right creative, and you need to pay attention to everything from the hours of operation to also the menu selection. Hey, even if it doesn’t do well, can you bring in Gordon Ramsay and do the Hawaii Five-0 variation of Kitchen Nightmares? There would be a part of us that would find this wildly entertaining, especially since McGarrett and Gordon would probably get into a fight by the end of the episode.
