Entering Power season 5, Starz series sees additional ratings gains
Today, Starz announced some of their latest live+3 ratings for the entirety of the fourth season, and there is all sorts of good stuff to report on if you love the show and care about its continued success. The season 4 finale posted a season high in total viewers, and the same can be said when adding three days of viewing data to the mix. With 2.8 million viewers watching in this measure, we have yet again the best numbers of the year.
Now, let’s transition over to where things really start to get impressive for the show — the multi-platform viewing, which is often something that we don’t get a chance to know a whole lot about until after a given season concludes. In the case of Power here, season 4 drew around 8.8 million viewers on average when accounting for streams, live+7 data, and many other measures. Note that this is only through the eighth episode of the show, but this is up a good 800,000 viewers from the third season. In total, this signals to us that season 4 is the most-watched edition of the show to date, and that more people are watching the series via alternative measures than ever before. The live+same-day ratings for season 4 were down versus season 3, but that makes a little bit more sense when you consider that it aired in direct opposition to Game of Thrones for most of the season. Also, the premiered aired opposite the BET Awards and faced significant competition there too.
Power continues to deliver great viewership among African-American viewers; per a release sent to us today, “season three (1.6M) and season four (1.4M) generated more African-American viewers than any other premium series, movie or any sporting/special event.” This includes shows like Game of Thrones or The Wire.
Alas, Power season 5 will not be premiering on Starz until we roll around to next summer most likely, but Starz has a good bit to be excited about already based on momentum. Creatively the show’s at a high point, there’s a consistent audience of viewers who check it out weekly, and if Game of Thrones ends up being delayed until next fall/early 2019, there’s a chance that the series will be able to sidestep that competition and deliver another ratings bump. With Outlander premiering this weekend, we do think big ratings for one show on the network will indirectly help others. Starz can use Outlander to promote Power just as they used Power to promote some other shows on the lineup.
What’s your take on all of these Power season 4 ratings?

I think that they will never know how big this show really is, they don’t know exactly how many people are in groups on Facebook or twitter that continually talk about the show or debates that we have about the show my group grows from season to season my group is the Power Fanatics there are groups much much bigger than mine and some smaller, but in most groups we are all still arguing about season 1, and Tasha and Angela fans never die from debating who is best for Ghost, but I have to tell you that a large group of people thinks that Angela and Ghost story line is killing Omari’s ability to win awards or that him constantly crying for her affection is making him too weak and unbelievable and they talk of stop watching the show, I know some people who love the show so much and become invested in the conversation even tho they don’t watch the show they still debate the show, but either way Power is a Phenomenal show that everyone loves or loves to hate, I have never seen a show where almost every character have their own personal cheerleader or hate group. So I think it would be to Starz advantage to increase the episodes and stop with these long azz hiatus, a year is much too long to wait for a show of this caliber and the writers need to stop with all the plot holes, such as Omari knew where angela was all this time and he had an opportunity to go to the same school but refused for Tommy, but can’t kill her azz or let her alone long enough to keep his own azz out of prison is totally ridiculous, or the fact that Big mama was not even mentioned when Raina was killed that’s crazy ridiculous. When you know better you do better come on writers lets be a lil more realistic, bring big mama back and stop trying to ram Angela ruthless azz down our throats she is not a good person season 1,2,3,4 have already proven how dirty she really is yet she getting promoted while everyone else is losing loved ones. Love the show anyway. For those of you who see this article please give season one a try you won’t be sorry this is a great show flaws and all.
