Chicago Fire season 6 premiere wishlist: Resolution and healing

The Chicago Fire season 6 premiere is coming in just a few weeks! It’s easy to be excited about it, though it’s also easy to be deeply concerned about the road ahead for some of your favorite characters. There’s the potential for at least one employee of Firehouse 51 to die in the blaze! We hope that everyone survives, but there is no guarantee of that happening and that is one of the things that makes this show so great!

What we want to do today, in the latest chapter of our CarterMatt Premiere Wishlist series, is try and chronicle more of what should happen with the Chicago Fire season 6 premiere. We know that not all of it will be about death, and on the other side of it, we’ll start to pick up the pieces and move forward into some new storylines.

1. If you kill someone, have it matter – We think that the show did right by Leslie Shay when she died, as that spiraled into many other big moments on the show. To be specific, it gave Kelly Severide some of his best content as he struggled to come to terms with losing someone he loved and respected very much. We don’t want to see anyone go, but if they do, we need to see them honored properly.

2. Tie up storylines from last season – We know that Kelly, (if he survives) will still be struggling from Anna’s death. How much will that weigh on him? Meanwhile, be prepared to see more of Dawson’s father and we want to see her more in that role of the shoulder that he can lean on.

3. Bring in new characters slowly – We know that one of the newcomers is going to be a friend of Sylvie Brett’s from her past, and we’re excited to see her. With that being said, we do think that the show shouldn’t try to give her more than just a few minutes within the premiere. These sort of characters need time to better fit into the surrounding ensemble, and there is no point in rushing them right away.

4. Give us a good Molly’s scene – By the end of the premiere, we’re absolutely going to need it so some of these people can unwind and remember that the Firehouse 51 family is what ties everyone together. They are all working to make the place the best working environment possible, and also to save the lives of as many people as they can. This is why the dangers of the job are worth everything.

5. Steer clear of crossovers – We love them. However, we also don’t want to see anything here that could spoil something for Chicago PD or Chicago Med. Just for the sake of the first episode, keep everything all about Chicago Fire and the people we know and love here.
