NCIS season 15 spoilers: Gates McFadden to guest star
In a post on Twitter, the Star Trek: The Next Generation alum confirmed that she will be a part of the CBS show coming up — and will be appearing in the latest upcoming episode directed by series regular Rocky Carroll. (You can read a little bit more about that over here.) McFadden didn’t give up any details about the role, but based on where the show is in production right now, it’s probably fair to guess that her episode is going to be coming in either October or early November. She joins a rather fantastic lineup of guest stars appearing on the upcoming season — we’ve already reported on Trevor Donovan of 90210 having a guest role, while Cheryl Texiera of Girl Meets World will also be stopping by for a role early on in the season. (Maria Bello will be joining the show as a new series regular, and is set to make her first appearance a handful of episodes into the season. Signs point towards her being a major foil for Mark Harmon’s Gibbs.)
McFadden is far from the first person with significant Star Trek ties to appear on NCIS over the years. Jeri Ryan of Star Trek: Voyager played a role a couple of years back as one of Gibbs’ exes, while Marina Sirtis stopped by as a Mossad director. Even in looking over to NCIS: Los Angeles, the late Miguel Ferrer was a Star Trek movie actor. Of course, Star Trek: Enterprise star Scott Bakula is the lead over on NCIS: New Orleans. Out of all of the random franchises to have connections, these two have to be near the top of the list. (Another interesting behind-the-scenes tidbit: LeVar Burton recently directed one half of the recent NCIS / NCIS: New Orleans crossover.)
For those who aren’t major Star Trek fans, McFadden has also appeared on such other shows as Franklin & Bash and Mad About You. This should be a fun change of pace for her, and we’re excited to see how this plays out. Carroll’s developed a great reputation so far for telling great stories through the lens of this show. He’s had a lot of time to see other directors work, and brings some of his own unique ideas and perspective to the table at the same time.

Personally I think it would be fun if she turned out to be playing either McGee’s or Palmer’s mother, since we’ve never met either.
