Ballers season 3 episode 6 spoilers: Is desperation setting in?
Judging from the episode’s title of “I Hate New York” and some of the attached information below, we’re not all that optimistic about the future of Spencer’s plot.
Ballers season 3 episode 6 synopsis – “With the owners’ meeting a week away, Spencer (Dwayne Johnson), Joe (Rob Corddry) and Mr. Anderson (Richard Schiff) head north in search of financing for a Vegas stadium. Larry (Dulé Hill) tests the limits of Charles’ (Omar Benson Miller) loyalty and patience; Ricky (John David Washington) gets a sobering diagnosis, and presses Jason (Troy Garity) to close a deal.”
At this point in the season, it does feel reasonably clear what we’re building towards in some regards. Take, for example, with Charles — isn’t this guy going to eventually just decide that he isn’t going to want to be bothered with Larry anymore? He’s gotten plenty of skill and practice within the GM role, and as a result of that we kind of figure that there are going to be plenty of other people out there who are rather interested in picking him up in some shape or form.
With Ricky, meanwhile, you wonder if he is in the midst of a transition of his own. We do think that Ballers is at its finest as a show when it is focusing on some of these men at a crossroads. These are people who have felt a certain degree of power and invincibility — they’ve earned millions and been idolized, and now have to face the reality of a future where they are, by and large, forgotten. We feel like for many of them that this may not be an easy thing to accept.
