Chicago Fire season 6: Brett – Antonio teases; keeping secrets

Who wants a little more Chicago Fire season 6 news? We figure that many of you will when you consider the Brett – Antonio news at the center.

If you recall (which we’re sure so many of you out there do), Jon Seda is returning to Chicago PD and is going to be a full-fledged series regular there. Meanwhile, there are certainly plenty of crossovers between this show and Chicago Fire. The relationship between him and Brett turned out to be very popular, so the producers have every reason in the world to want to bring it back.

So will they? Well, that’s very much up in the air for the time being, but we can tell you that we’re going to have a chance to see some scenes featuring the two parties. In a new post on Twitter, showrunner Derek Haas confirmed that the “outlook looks very good” that you will see the two together a little bit more. We like to think that this is a nice building block towards getting the two back together … but there are some hurdles that they would need to jump through. We just want to see some more cross-show romances that end up lasting for a while. Most of them seem to have a pretty short shelf life, save for Mouch and Platt (and that makes us emotional just thinking about it).

There are a couple of other interesting quotes in here from Haas about the show, beginning with the news that there are two scenes near the end of the premiere episode that are outstanding … and it’s pretty easy to understand why when you think for a moment about all of the emotion that is packed into the hour. We still don’t know who’s going to live and die as a result of the cliffhanger, and that is a lot of super-heavy emotional stuff for the show to explore moving forward.

Finally, let’s turn to what is probably the most difficult part of the job for Haas and the entirety of the crew: Keeping things a secret. If someone does die at the start of the season (which seems possible), there are going to be plenty of people sniffing around on Twitter looking for answers.

While it’s frustrating in some ways that people try to spoil major events (we only like to tease things here), Haas has the right philosophy on it: The majority of fans don’t want to be in a position where they find out all of the details on what’s coming up, and prefer to be surprised. These are the majority of the viewers that Derek and the rest of the team tend to cater to.
