Shadowhunters season 2 episode 17 video: A nice Malec moment amidst the storm

Shadowhunters season 2 episode 17

Through much of Shadowhunters season 2 episode 17 on Freeform Monday night, things are going to be stressful. After all, Jonathan is going to be causing chaos throughout New York, and for Clary, Jace, and other Shadowhunters, they are going to be doing everything that they can in order to find them.

One of these said Shadowhunters looking to help out in the search is Alec, and based on the sneak preview below, you can see that it’s taking a toll on him. He’s losing track of time, and even forgetting about some dinner plans that he had with Magnus! Luckily, Harry Shum Jr.’s character is kind enough to bring the fancy dinner to him in this new preview. The two have a nice moment, and there isn’t really any drama here to be found.

As a matter of fact, the only thing that this preview may do is leave you fairly hungry for a lobster roll. That does make some sense, given all of the time they spend discussing Cape Cod and a getaway that they would love to have there. It’s easy to imagine why that isn’t happening right now — we’ve just detailed much of that already. In the midst of all of the chaos, you can’t leave for any moment. If they did, they’d probably spend almost the entirety of their time away wondering about what is happening back at the Institute.

This sneak peek should make you smile — think of it as the calm before the storm that is likely going to be happening virtually everywhere else on the show moving forward.

Will there be any tension coming between the two?

The biggest question that we wonder here is whether or not the two are disclosing everything that they know with one another, and this could be a point of contention with the two when it comes to a key plot point in this episode. Secrets are the source of about 90% of all relationship conflict on TV these days; the same thing could be said here.

The good news here is obvious: Clearly, they love each other, and they don’t do anything to intentionally hurt each other. Also, when you’ve been alive for as long as Magnus has been, we do have a feeling that you learn to not sweat the small stuff all that much. You focus on what matters and who matters and take everything else on as it comes. We don’t think any sort of conflict that comes their way is going to be enough to cause them serious issues.

If you missed the Shadowhunters news over the weekend…

There’s obviously a lot to discuss! For now, though, let’s start things out by sharing a preview featuring Sarah Hyland, who will be making her first appearance as the older version of the Seelie Queen a little bit later on in the season.

Also, come back tonight, since that is where you are going to see a full review for all that transpires here. (Photo: Freeform.)
