The 100: Isaiah Washington to return for season 5
Washington took to his Instagram account to announce the news that he would, in fact, be back and that he would make an appearance in at least episode 3.
“Hey y’all, don’t believe the bullsh-t press. Jaha is returning in Season 5 of THE 100 in Episode 503. The deal is done. So now you know…just keeping it.”
The actor also included a hashtag that read #FakeNews.
Earlier this summer several media outlets reported that the actor was leaving, even executive producer Jason Rothenberg made a statement about the departure.
“We’ve been incredibly fortunate to have Isaiah Washington on The 100 for the past four seasons. He’s brought so much to the role of Jaha, and we love working with him.”
So why the change? Well there could be a number of different reasons. The network could have offered him a better deal, or the writers could have come up with a storyline intriguing enough to convince Washington to change his mind. There’s also the possibility that he could have been thinking about leaving but was actually never going to. Whatever the case was, fans should just focus on the fact that they won’t lose an original cast member, at least for now. Anything could happen with this show, and it’s always possible that the return could be short-lived.
Speaking of interesting storytelling what does this mean for Season 5? At the end of Season 4, the show flash forward six years and seven days to reveal that Clarke survived the death wave and has been living in a lab and the surrounding area with a young nightblood girl. As Clarke tried to make contact with the Ark, a spacecraft lands on Earth. Realizing this isn’t anyone she knows but someone dangerous, Clarke and the girl run and hide.
So who could the unknown spacecraft be? A safe bet is that this will be the new threat for the season, just like the death wave was the main conflict throughout Season 4. Will they be another group of survivors from Earth that fled the nuclear apocalypse 97 years ago? Or will they be an entirely different species that decided to land on Earth? Either would definitely be an intriguing story to tell, but fans will have to wait for the series to return.
