The Originals season 5 spoilers: Steven Krueger promoted; more Josh coming
Sources confirm via TVLine that the actor behind the role of Josh is finally going to be a regular for the upcoming season premiering in 2018, and as many longtime viewers/fans of the show know, this is a long time coming. This is a man who has appeared in over thirty episodes of the show over the years, so promoting him at this point basically presents an opportunity for the series to grow from within, and expand more on some of the people that you already know and love.
As for where Josh will be when season 5 picks up, that’s a tough question to answer given that the entire chessboard is going to be reset. Remember for a moment here now that the show’s main characters are all going to be scattered in the wake of what happened at the end of season 4 with The Hollow, and you will see different people in very different places than they were before. This is exciting in how in opens the door up for some new creatives, but it also makes it hard to project. Somehow, someway, we imagine that a Mikaelson reunion will happen, and maybe in the process, we’ll see where some of Josh’s own friendships and relationships stand with Marcel and others.
One of the great and tremendously-exciting things about this promotion, alongside the time jump, is that it guarantees that we will see more of Josh — and probably in some different ways than we have before. Before he was a regular, there was always that fear that the character could just disappear off in a second and we wouldn’t see them anymore. (Technically that could still happen, but it’s a little less likely than it was.)

Even though it may be a long wait until season 5, you at least know that there will be some more details likely unveiled soon courtesy of San Diego Comic-Con. It’s a little strange to imagine the season coming up without The Vampire Diaries, but maybe we’ll get used to it over time. (Photo: The Cw.)
