Arrow season 6, Supergirl season 3 stars hype Comic-Con panels
This weekend, the casts of Arrow season 6, Supergirl season 3, and more are heading to San Diego Comic-Con for panels. Why not be prepared?
In the video below, some select members of these shows’ casts, including Katie Cassidy (Black Siren), Juliana Harkavy (Dinah Drake), Echo Kellum (Curtis), and Katie McGrath (Lena Luthor) hype up some of what’s coming, including some big potential reveals at the convention. Could this mean an opportunity to learn who the new Big Bad is on Arrow? It seems like Black Siren won’t be the only villain in town, so this may be discussed. Over on Supergirl, we’d love to get a sense of what their version of Reign (Odette Annable) is going to look like. So long as there are some reveals at these panels, we do figure that we’re going to be rather thrilled in the end. The new episodes are set to air starting this fall, and filming is currently underway for these two shows plus also The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow.
This year’s convention will mark the Comic-Con debut for McGrath and Harkavy, at least for these shows. Katie was around as Lena last summer, but she was not a series regular at that time. Meanwhile, Harkavy joined midway through this past season, and she was promoted around the end of season 5. Technically, she could die in the explosion that engulfed Liam Yu at the end of Arrow this past season, but given that there is a new costume photo out there for her, this ultimately seems rather unlikely to stick.
In the end, we imagine that the Comic-Con panels will be a lot of fun in the way that many other convention panels are, but one of the most interesting takeaways that we have at the moment is the simple fact that the pressure’s now on for these after all of the Heroes & Villains Fan Fests that are out there. While we haven’t formally attended any of those just yet, they feel more like superhero love in their purest form and feel a little bit less corporate than what Comic-Con has become these days. These offer up more intimate gatherings with the cast, and also a little less random advertisement and people who mostly seem to be there to get attention for themselves or from some of the other people that are there. Comic-Con is a little more inauthentic these days, even if there are still great attendees and some really cool panels that you get a chance to see. It also still remains the premier venue for studios to want to release some of their stuff for what’s coming.
