Hawaii Five-0 season 8: Should Adam return?
It’s understandable why he’s been forgotten on paper — Ian Anthony Dale is not a series regular on the show, and he’s been see far less than either of the other aforementioned actors. He’s also not a formal member of the Task Force, though he has proved useful here and there.
Now that some of the (rather sad) dust is starting to clear, this is a time when we can start to ponder a little bit more as to Adam’s future — and for now, there’s no verification one way or another as to whether or not he’ll return. Based on the tweet below via executive producer Peter M. Lenkov, there’s hope. There’s also some further hope when you think about his connections to the show and to CBS. Dale is a main part of another show in Salvation that both airs on the network and is executive-produced by Lenkov. If that show gets renewed, you gotta think that there is a way to make those schedules work out so that he can do both of the shows without too much trouble.
Another obvious benefit to getting more of Adam on Hawaii Five-0 is a simple matter of closure: So many of us still want it and need it given the fact that Park’s departure was so sudden, even if the writers did technically find a way to implement it into the story with the sex trafficking case. Seeing Adam again would give us an update here or there as to how she’s doing, since the character is very much still a part of the family. We obviously want to be hopeful that Park can return someday, but that’s complicated and if she does that, it would be out of loyalty to the cast and the producers.
What’s happening right now?
Filming is taking place on the upcoming eighth season, and at the moment the show is operating with its smallest main cast in a long time. We’ve lost Masi Oka, Kim, and Park, and there have been no new hires brought in replace any of them. There is a new major character in Tani being cast, but the actress for the role hasn’t been formally announced yet — this was someone being cast before the news of Park and Kim’s exits was made public, so this shouldn’t be thought of as a replacement. We would imagine that there would be some more characters brought in down the line.
For now, just cross your fingers that we get a chance to see more of Adam, and that Hawaii Five-0 still feels like the same show we love when it returns in the fall.
