Katrina Law of Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow just got a little busier…
Crackle announced on Friday that the actress (whose credits also include Spartacus as well as Training Day) is going to star in their upcoming original series entitled The Oath. Here is how they describe it in their press release:
Created by Joe Halpin (“Hawaii Five-O,” “Secrets and Lies”), who worked as a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy in South Central for 17 years, 12 of which as an undercover officer, the series takes an unforgiving look at the complicated dynamics in these organizations and documents the lives of those willing to risk it all, to have it all. The gritty, action-packed drama, explores a world of gangs made up of those sworn to protect and defend and sheds light on corrupt and secret societies that are nearly impossible to join—only a select few make the cut–but once inside, members will do what they must to protect each other from enemies on the outside and from within their own ranks.
Meanwhile, Law is set to appear over the course of the show as “Karen Beach, a police officer, and the sole female member of the Ravens cop gang, who has tendency to overcompensate by out-toughing the macho company she runs with and gets involved in a forbidden love affair with a member of a rival cop gang.”
Basically, this sounds like a very meaty, exciting role for her where she gets a chance to do all sorts of exciting stuff, whether it be take part in some action sequences and also have a story that is also personal and vulnerable. All of that is reminiscent somewhat of everything that she’s done as Nyssa al Ghul within the CW’s DC Comics universe. She’s been a part of that for a the past few years, and explored everything from her relationship with Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) to her complicated history with her father Ra’s and her sister Talia. We last had a chance to see Katrina on Arrow during the final episodes of season 5.
What does this mean for her Arrow / Legends of Tomorrow future?
For the time being, consider this the sort of gig that shouldn’t interfere with her being able to stop by at some point. It may just narrow things down when it comes to her schedule and the times she can appear. Similar as to when she was on Training Day, we could see Nyssa still turn up on Arrow or any of the other shows at some point in the future. This is such an exciting role, and we’re certainly excited that Katrina is going to have a chance to play her — even if it means that she’s busy and scheduling her on these shows may be more challenging.
The Oath will come on the air at some point 2018. Meanwhile, we’re going to get a chance to see new seasons of Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow on the air a little later this year. (If you missed it head over here to see the Arrow season 6 premiere title now!)
