July 4 marathons: NCIS, South Park, Star Trek, Veep, and more
Below, take a look at some of your favorite programs, when they are, and for how long you’ll get a chance to see them. As a reminder, all times listed are Eastern, so adjust accordingly depending on where you live.
South Park, Comedy Central – Check out Cartman, Stan, Kenny, and the rest of the Santa Barbara gang starting at 6:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. — by the end of it, hopefully you feel coherent enough for fireworks.
NCIS, USA – Gibbs and company will be solving crimes on the cable network from 6:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., and at that point, you can go and watch a more-recent repeat over on CBS.
Veep, HBO2 – The entire sixth season of the Julia Louis-Dreyfus series (what’s more patriotic than Veep? Well, probably a lot) will air starting at about 8:30 a.m. until 1:20 p.m. — some of the episodes are at odd times, but this is perfect for your DVR if you missed it when the shows were first airing.
Star Trek: The Next Generation, BBC America – The greatest edition of the science fiction franchise, at least in our mind, will be airing some installments starting at 10:00 a.m. and running until midnight over at BBC America. Before that, you’ve got a chance to check out some Star Trek: Voyager.
Tosh.0, Comedy Central – From 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m., the network will be following up another longstanding hit with another.
The Twilight Zone, Syfy – If you love the classic series, it’ll be airing overnight straight into 2:00 p.m. Eastern. Hopefully it doesn’t freak you out too much for the rest of your day.
Beyond marathons, there are of course some classic crime procedurals like Psych and Criminal Minds airing tomorrow on ION, and Spike has some movies airing at night. Consider all of these alternatives to fireworks, or just go out and enjoy the day! We’re all about feeding into your TV obsession, but we also know there will be ample opportunities to check out more great stuff over the course of the summer.
There’s isn’t too much in the way of new programming on July 4 save for some specials, including the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular over on NBC in primetime. Come July 5, so programming will start to pick up again … albeit at a trickle, since there are some shows in MasterChef that are still going to be off the air for a little while longer.
Now, we want to turn this over to you: What are you planning to watch over the course of July 4? Be sure to share in the comments!
Be sure to check back to the site later for a little more coverage of the 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular and a wide array of other good stuff. (Photo: CBS.)
