Cable ratings: Fear the Walking Dead, Shadowhunters, and Stitchers
Fear the Walking Dead – Take, for example, the AMC drama, which has already been renewed for a fourth season. Technically, it has nothing to worry about, but it’s still somewhat disconcerting to see an effects-heavy show from a big franchise slide its way down to a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic — the lowest number for the show to date. A part of this may have been tied to the controversial nature of this episode, which was told almost entirely in Spanish. Personally, we liked the choice and felt like it was authentic to Daniel Salazar and his character. However, not everyone else may feel that way.
Shadowhunters – There is some better news to share here for the Freeform drama, which did recover from its lower outing last week. It’s about equal in the 18-49 demographic with a 0.2, whereas with total viewers, the show has improved up to 590,000 viewers. We know already that the majority of the people who watch this show don’t watch it live, so that is something that you just need to keep in mind when you wonder why the ratings are relatively low in comparison to some other shows, but it is such a dominating force on social media.
Stitchers – Here, the results are a little bit mixed. The ratings were about at the same 0.1 rating that we saw last week. However, the show did fall in total viewers all the way down to around 333,000 viewers. Even still, the show is about even with where the show was last week.
Out of the three shows mentioned here, the numbers for Stitchers are clearly the most important given that it’s the only show that hasn’t been given an official renewal yet. Hopefully, that changes over the coming weeks.
