The Originals season 5 could contain huge time jump, Hope spin-off
According to a report coming in right now via TVLine, the upcoming fifth season may contain an enormous time jump to when Hope is a teenager, and then set the stage for her to eventually front her own spin-off show. What’d be somewhat interesting about this is that the original Vampire Diaries starred Nina Dobrev as a teenage Elena navigating her way through a supernatural world; putting Hope in that position could take the entire franchise full-circle.
In looking beyond that, however, one of the big questions is whether or not such an idea is really all that good of an idea given that you have a really good young actress in Summer Fontana as Hope right now, and the relationship seems to be there with Joseph Morgan’s Klaus. The big justification for making such a big jump is that you want to give these characters time where they can be happy and more in vein with the people that they’ve always wanted to be … before of course making things insane again given that insanity is one of the big requirements for this show these days. They love to stir things up, and put characters into situations where all sorts of crazy things can happen.
There is still a little more story to tell on The Originals season 4 before we can start thinking too much about the future, and one of the larger questions to ponder over there is simply the state of Hope in the sense of her living with Klaus or Hayley. There is certainly a lot of (understandable) speculation that she could eventually come to live with the likes of Caroline and Alaric at her school in Mystic Falls, and this does open up the possibility in turn for The Originals season 4 to be very much a different show than any that aired before it.
