Major Crimes season 6 spoilers: House of Cards actor James Martinez to appear
According to a new report coming in via Deadline, House of Cards actor James Martinez is going to be recurring on the TNT drama, where he will play the part of Ian Nunez. The site describes the character as “the sociopathic father of a potential kidnap victim, a man who started a second family without ever informing them he had a son from another marriage.” Basically, he sounds like a pretty terrible person, and therefore the sort of person who the Major Crimes Division could spend some time investigating.
The fact that he is appearing in multiple season 6 episodes should help to further suggest that Major Crimes will continue to some extent its evolution beyond just a show that tells procedural stories that wrap up after a single episode. There may be a part of that still present there, but ever since the takeover of TNT / TBS by Kevin Reilly, we’ve seen a further push in that direction. Whether it’s intentional or not it’s hard to pinpoint.
For those wondering, Martinez’s role on House of Cards was Alex Romero from this past season. Beyond just this part, he’s been very prolific as of late when it comes to his appearances. He’s been a part of Aquarius, Low Winter Sun, One Day at a Time, and Queen of the South over the past several years. We’ll see what he brings to the table here, but all of these different credits / genres do show that he’s a versatile guy who has a capacity to take on a wide array of different things.
Hopefully, by the end of the summer there is a little bit more of something concrete to share in the way of a definitive premiere date — we’ve certainly been waiting with bated breath to see that for a little while now!
