Shadowhunters season 2 spoilers: Sarah Hyland of Modern Family set to guest star
Freeform confirmed on Monday that the Modern Family star will be appearing in at least one episode a little later this year, but declined handing out further information in regards to her role. As for why the producers for the show would want her, that is pretty easy to figure out. She’s a red-carpet staple and one of the biggest guest stars that she’s had, and because she’s on a show that is also within the same ABC – Disney family as Shadowhunters, getting her for a spot probably wasn’t too much trouble.
There is also another great personal connection within here for Hyland, given that Dominic Sherwood, who plays Jace on the series, is her real-life boyfriend. As of right now, Jace is in the midst of a complicated love triangle with Clary and Simon, and it’s hard to see that changing anytime soon.
As for who we’d love to see Hyland play, we really want it to be as crazy and evil a role as possible, just because if you’re going to get someone of her caliber aboard the show, you want her to milk the material for everything that she can. This is a show that does love to take some big, daring risks, so why not combine these two powers and give most viewers out there a fairly unforgettable experience?
With Pretty Little Liars ending this month, Shadowhunters stands as one of Freeform’s most-viable properties with an enormous global fan following and plenty of social media. Getting an actress like Hyland should only help to expand that out further. It’s also been confirmed already for a third season, which should premiere at some point in 2018.
Meanwhile, Modern Family returns with new episodes this fall on ABC, with the majority of the main cast signing on to reprise their roles.
