Could a Flaked season 3 happen? There are reasons for hope
The biggest thing that does aid Flaked as a series already is the relationship that is out there between co-creator Will Arnett and the streaming service, given that he also has Arrested Development and this show marks a great opportunity for him to be able to branch out from that a little bit and do a new, intimate story about a different part of Southern California.
Like with any other show on the air, the biggest determining factor for the future of Flaked on Netflix is as simple as the show’s view count — which is, of course, the one thing that is completely foreign to us watching on the other side. Given Arnett’s star power and the show’s reasonable price tag, it’s got a fairly good shot. (Two of Netflix’s recently-canceled series in The Get Down and Sense8 were two of the most expensive shows in recent memory — they have another one in The Crown than also qualifies in that category.)
The biggest thing that you can do as a Flaked viewer to help support the show having a long life on the air is simply to further discussion about it online. Make other people know that you enjoy the show, since something that Netflix does have a tendency to look at over time is the social traffic for the shows, and the free marketing that fans effectively do for some of their own series. This absolutely is one of the reasons why 13 Reasons Why is coming back for another season, even though you can easily argue that the show told a story that stands on its own two feet.
There is no firm timeline at the moment for a Flaked renewal, but expect some news to start to creep out over the next few months.
