The Carmichael Show season 3, The F Word with Gordon Ramsay start OK
Take, for example, The Carmichael Show and its season 3 premiere, which posted a 0.9 followed by its second episode with a 0.8. While these ratings are not shattering expectations, it’s close to what NBC averaged for most of its comedies in-season. Add to that now the critical acclaim and tough topics that the show handles with grace, and it’s clear to see a path where the show comes back for more episodes in the future … provided that it keeps this up.
Over on Fox, the network is keeping things steady with their Gordon Ramsay lineup. For example MasterChef premiered with an okay 1.0 rating, while their new series The F Word with Gordon Ramsay ended up posting a 1.1. The latter is probably due for a fall next week; this was a show that did bring a good bit to the table in terms of ambition, but its lack of focus made it hard to enjoy longer than short bursts.
Overall, the big winner for the night was a new episode of Little Big Shots, which generated a 1.2 rating and was enough to lead the charge at 8:00 p.m. Eastern. Consider this another feather in the cap for this winning week over at NBC. Remember that the network already won pretty big earlier in the week with its one-two punch of America’s Got Talent followed by World of Dance, which generated a 2.4 and blew many of its own expectations out of the water.
Things the rest of the week are quieting down insofar as network debuts, though Thursday night does offer up the return of Nashville over on CMT. Meanwhile, there is also the finale for The Amazing Race over at CBS, which will cap off most of their scripted programming from the season itself.
