Britain’s Got Talent: Camila Cabello performs ‘Crying in the Club’
There was a little bit of additional headline-worthy content on Britain’s Got Talent this weekend — after all, Camila Cabello have her first solo British TV performance since departing Fifth Harmony.
While on the show, Cabello performed her new single “Crying in the Club” in front of the audience and the judges. Camila is someone certainly familiar to Simon Cowell, given that he was a judge on her season of The X Factor, where Fifth Harmony first was formed.
As for this performance, the biggest negative was that someone went completely crazy with the smoke machine. In between that and the fire, it was pretty darn hard to even figure out what was happening all of the time. With that, Cabello is quickly figuring out her stage presence as a solo artist the past few times that we’ve seen her, and this was probably her strongest live performance of the song to date.
At the same time, the sound mixers did go a little bit crazy when it comes to the backing track. While you could hear Camila’s voice during the verses, in the chorus the track ended up drowning her out far more often than not. This is something that’s become a little bit too indicative of the pop-music scene, where it makes the performance more about the effects and the drama than the actual singing … otherwise known as the thing that most people do want to hear.
Nonetheless, good on Camila for delivering a pretty strong outing on Britain’s Got Talent, and setting the stage potentially for some more British TV performances down the line. If the song is successful, you know that Cowell will probably be keen to bring her back for other gigs either on this show or The X Factor down the line. He’s also a part of America’s Got Talent, which could in turn feature her in some capacity.
