The Voice finale: Who won season 12 — Chris Blue or Lauren Duski?
Despite the VERY lengthy finale, it was fairly clear early on what was going to happen in the closing minutes of it — Chris Blue or Lauren Duski would almost certainly be the final two. These two were the ones who performed the best on iTunes over the course of the season, and certainly did so last night with some of their performances. They were also the two best equipped right now to go on and have a chance in the music industry. The reality there is strictly that this is a hard business to succeed in, and even with all of the support in the world on the show, it’s significantly tougher to get anyone to remember and support you after the fact.
If Chris won, Alicia Keys would be winning the show for the first time. Meanwhile, if Lauren did it would give Blake Shelton ANOTHER country champion. It’s easy to be cynical, but Cassadee Pope, easily the most successful alum from this show, came from his team and he’s got a track record of supporting artists after the fact.
The results – The show actually got to it at about 10:48, which was a little earlier than expected.
4th Place – Jesse Larson. No surprise there, given that in some ways he was a surprise part of the finale.
3rd Place – Aliyah Moulden. Also no surprise here at all, given that she was lower on the iTunes charts than either Lauren or Chris. When her name was announced, it was almost like she knew it was going to happen.
Apparently, the results between the final two were some of the closest in the history of the show. Does that mean that Chris may have pulled off the upset. Was it possible? In theory, it did seem to be so.
Winner – In the end, the person who got the title for this season was … Chris Blue! He did it! It’s hard to figure out how that happened, but the guy was more than a little emotional. He was the last guy to audition this season, but he still ended up winning.
