Jane the Virgin season 3 finale: How was Tyler Posey’s debut?
More than that, though, this episode also marked the debut of Tyler Posey as Adam, Jane’s past love and a guy who will be bringing something very new to the series. As executive producer Jennie Urman noted to TVLine, one of the real benefits to having Posey (who will recur over the course of season 4) on board is that he brings such a different dynamic to the world of the show:
“Jane has had a lot of weight on her shoulders, and this is somebody that’s going to be reminding her a bit that she’s 27 years old.”
Ultimately, the presence of Adam is going to be important to season 3 just from the vantage point of bringing in a little bit more youthful energy and lightheartedness to a show that is ultimately a comedy. It makes you care about its characters, and one of the big things to remember here is that in order for there to be lows, there also needs to be highs. A healthy mix is a part of what makes a show like this so dynamic and different from almost everything else out there on the air.
As for what’s happening in regards to Rafael and Petra’s future, it is intentionally ambiguous for the time being. Here’s what Urman had to say on that subject:
“Petra was right: Jane did have feelings for him. That’s something interesting that we’re going to play with. It felt very paranoid to Rafael, but we, the audience, know it wasn’t, and that’s how I think we can sort of get behind.”
In the end, it’ll be good to see where all of this picks up in the coming months — more than likely, more twists are coming.
