MasterChef Junior finale exclusive: Chocolate rain (video)

The MasterChef Junior finale is airing on Fox Thursday night, and the competition has never been more intense. There are four contestants left to take home the prize in Shayne, Justise, Adam, and Jasmine, but only one of them will when the dust settles.

The exclusive sneak peek below highlights something that will specifically be a component of an upcoming challenge — and it’s something that almost everyone under the sun loves to enjoy: Chocolate. The young chefs are all subject to a little bit of chocolate rain, and they take it about as well as anyone possibly can.

More than anything else, this preview is a reminder that Shayne is entertainment gold. Him plucking the chocolate from the sky and eating it along the way is him basically doing what every viewer at home would in that situation. Who’s going to say no to free chocolate?

What’s exciting about this finale, beyond the chocolate rain, is the fact that there is not a consensus pick to win the whole season. Every one of the remaining contestants has excelled at various points of the competition, and had some struggles at others. Justise is probably the one that feels on paper to be the likely winner, just because she’s been able to go the longest this season without being in any sort of immediate danger. Credit to her for being consistent in most of the tasks, and not letting any hurdle get in her way. Still, she has to find a way to turn this status as favorite into a reality, given that there are still some tasks ahead that could make it or break it for her in this competition. So long as there is an exciting conclusion to the season, it’s easy to be happy with the outcome.

After tonight’s finale airs, the good news is that the show won’t leave you hanging for all that long before the flagship MasterChef comes back on the air this summer. Of course, there is going to be some further coverage of that over the course of the summer, so we suggest keeping your eyes peeled for that.
