NCIS: New Orleans season 3 finale review: Agent Pride forces Mayor Hamilton to reveal Clearwater plan
Last week, Mayor Hamilton took drastic measures to make the area of Clearwater the new location for a Navy shipyard. Bringing in politicians and making deals under the table, he was sparing no expense on pushing the deal even though people still lived in the area. Another major situation on Hamilton’s agenda was getting rid of Agent Pride’s NCIS team.
Agent Pride has been a thorn in Hamilton’s side. Taking apart the NCIS team piece by piece, it was Hamilton pulling the strings. The Mayor went so far to order Pride’s bar to be blown up. Perhaps that was the final incident that pushed Pride to the edge. Figuring out how to escape the firebombing alive, Pride went rogue. The agent captured the Mayor and in the process Hamilton was shot. Knowing there was one last play, it was Pride who had to figure out what Hamilton was planning to quickly move all the people from Clearwater.
The intense episode included a police chase, some serious gun battles and plenty of unanswered questions. However, the biggest question was finally answered. Hamilton had hired his thugs to take out Clearwater by opening the floodgates and flooding out the residents. It was a good plan, except one little problem. After being kidnapped by Pride, the mayor was in the area expected to be flooded and he was handcuffed, still bleeding, to a scaffolding at a local church. If the area was flooded, he would surely die.
Pride decided to leave the criminal handcuffed and go see if he could save the city. Finding Hamilton’s men at the floodgates, he started removing the chargers from the dynamite. Agent Pride’s team also figured out where the destruction would be taking place and took out the bad guys looking to blow up the area. The intense scene offered a look at the fractured team still working flawlessly as criminals were taken down.
While the plan to flood Clearwater was thwarted, the issue of Mayor Hamilton’s part in all the criminal activity had to be determined. Pride returned to the church where the Mayor was at and after a bit of reflection, the Mayor admitted his plan in full. His goal was to make a deal to spare his life. Knowing Agent Pride went rogue, it seemed like a logical solution. What he didn’t realize is more NCIS and FBI agents were within earshot and heard the confession. Mayor Hamilton was arrested.
In the closing scenes of NCIS: New Orleans the characters all meet up at Agent Pride’s bar. The joint was destroyed and needed to be completely remodeled. Obviously this wasn’t a job for just the NCIS crew. They invited all of New Orleans to pitch in and help the Pride rebuild his beloved bar so music can play once again.
