Absentia spoilers: Looking beyond Stana Katic’s Emily

Stana Katic's Emily

For the sake of today’s Absentia update, there are a couple of new items to tease and speculate, beginning with the presence of Cara Theobold.

The actress (best known for playing a part of Ivy on Downton Abbey) is going to be an important part of the upcoming AXN series, which is still looking for an American TV home. The teaser below asks a very simple question: “Are you in love with her?” You could read this as a question that this character is asking, or that is being asked about her. Signs point to her being the new woman romantically involved with Patrick Heusinger’s character — which would further explain this question being asked, if true.

If it is Theobold’s character asking the question, it could be easily tied to what is going on with Heusinger’s character and Stana Katic’s Emily Byrne — they were, after all, married before her disappearance. Meanwhile, in turn if this is a question being asked by Emily, it could be a reference to the relationship that the new couple has.

Given that Emily was gone for multiple years and presumed dead before coming back out of the blue, odds are this dynamic is going to be interesting to watch play out one way or another.

This one focuses on another performer within the ensemble in Bruno Bichir, who is doing something in one way or another to help Emily, as well. Is it possible that he is a therapist? He certainly has the sweater for it! Sometimes you can tell a good bit about a character judging from the way that they dress; given that he’s not sporting a suit coat, it may be easy to assume that he’s not an FBI agent just as Emily was or as Heusinger’s character is. (Then again, assumptions have gotten us in the past!)

Given what Emily’s gone through, it certainly makes some sense that she would have a lot to discuss with someone — provided that she finds a way to open up and also knows and understands precisely what she’s been through. Remembering the trauma is the first step; understanding it is what comes after that.

Of course, more Absentia news will be present as soon as it’s available over at the link here. Originally, the hope was to do a story every other day, but they’ve been a little bit more frequent because of the increased amount of information. Remember that much of this article is speculation, but it should be fun to see how much of this information is proven to be correct over time. (Photo: Sony.)
