Arrow season 5 episode 22 spoilers: Adrian Chase’s other shoe drops

Adrian Chase's

When Arrow season 5 episode 22 airs on The CW Wednesday night, the further machinations of one Adrian Chase will become clear. Specifically, what this means is that we’ll all have a prime opportunity to see just what other sort of terrifying stuff he’s got in store for Oliver Queen.

There are two episodes left this season. With that, did you really think that everything was going to end in a happy fashion on the show and all of the characters would now trot off into the sunset? On some level, you had to sense this was unlikely.

The video below sets up some of the problems ahead for Oliver thanks to the awfulness that is Chase, who now fancies himself a Raymond Reddington type running things while stored within a box. (Maybe you can also offer a Hannibal Lecter comparison here, no?) He orchestrates the meticulous kidnapping of many Team Arrow members one right after the next, which puts Oliver Queen in a situation where his “summer vacation” (per executive producer Wendy Mericle) comes to a rather unfortunate end. He was starting to think that the sky was clearing, and that the world was gearing up to be a much happier place. Unfortunately, there was that nagging part of his brain telling him that eventually another shoe was going to drop. This could be it.

The sneak peek confirms that one person gone is Curtis. Presumably, another could be Rene given his no-show to his daughter’s hearing. Dinah could also feasibly be in trouble. Some of the heroes working under Oliver seem like the easy first targets, and then it goes up the ladder to Felicity and Diggle before going to the Green Arrow himself. It’s another meticulous plan to engage in some psychological warfare, which in turn brings you to the finale “Liam Yu.” Manu Bennett will be back in that episode as Slade, and all of a sudden Oliver will face an enormous dilemma: Do you work with the enemy to ensure that your friends are safe? What will Slade want in return for such an act? This is one of those situations where every aspect has to be considered.

What do you think is coming for Oliver Queen on “Missing” tomorrow night? Sound off below!
