MasterChef Junior exclusive: Gordon Ramsay gives outdoor demo (video)
In the exclusive sneak peek below from the episode, the show’s famed chef is going to do his part to challenge the remaining contestants in an elaborate demo while out on the beach. They have to not only sear perfect scallops, but also prepare perfect polenta croutons and quail egg to top all of it off with a snap-pea salad. That’s a lot for a short period of time!
Also, it doesn’t help things that Gordon, at least for the kids, is going really fast during the demo. It’s a sign of the challenge that they are all facing, but it’s also a sign of respect that clearly, Gordon thinks highly enough of the remaining home cooks that they are going to be able to keep up with everything that he doing.
It looks based on the apron colors that we’re going to see a team challenge while out there on the beach, which is great from the vantage point of ensuring that one team makes it ever closer to the final stages of the competition. If they can win this task, they have a serious leg up. If they lose it, meanwhile, it means fighting to stay alive in the competition.
This should be an intense episode (team challenges often are), but there should also be a sense of creativity and of pride. It takes a lot for anyone to make it this close to the end of the road, and we’re now mere episodes away from the winner being crowned. If these kids weren’t good at what they do, there would be a zero percent chance that they would still be around in the competition at this point. They should be happy with their achievements while they continue to fight for culinary perfection.
As for us, we’ll continue to just be jealous that they can do all of this as someone who just mastered scallops right before our 30th birthday. It’s tough business!
Out of the remaining MasterChef Junior home cooks, who are you rooting for to make it through to the next round? Share in the comments!
