Real Housewives of Atlanta season 10: Premiere date, cast speculation

The Real Housewives of Atlanta season 10

Following the end of the reunion show on Sunday night, what is going to happen with The Real Housewives of Atlanta season 10? This is one of the big questions of the hour.

The first thing to point out here is that there’s no question regarding the show’s future on Bravo — clearly, the network is not moving away from the franchise anytime soon. It’s one of its biggest ratings winners; the fact that they are airing a whopping four part reunion show (others are 2 or 3 parts) this season is proof enough. It’s the same reason we’ve seen numerous different spin-off shows with The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast over the years. There may be some other shows out there on Bravo that also generate a ton of attention, but we’re not sure that any combine both social-media impressions and ratings in such a way as this show does.

As for a potential season 10 premiere date, think late fall. This tends to be when the network likes to get things going; the fact that this show is on effectively for half a year at this point is rather impressive.

Now, for the next order of business: Who could be coming back to the show for more episodes? As of right now, we think that the bulk of the cast from this year is a lock. Most of them are franchise veterans, and this isn’t a Kim Fields situation where you’ve got someone coming on the show who may not understand just what the franchise is or what it’s going to be like being a part of it.

The larger question here is mostly the status of Kim Zolciak and NeNe Leakes, who have both been rumored to be returning to the show for a rather long time. Are they popular? Absolutely, but are they needed? We’re not so sure of that. We almost wonder if it’s better for the franchise to move forward and find new personalities than relying on past ones. It may produce better ratings in the moment, but it’s also going to cost them a lot more when it comes to salaries to get them to sign on. This is basically one of those cost/benefit sort of things that you do have to figure out as a major network.
