Criminal Minds season 12 episode 21 sneak peek: A Lindsey Vaughn hunt

Remember Lindsey Vaughn from Criminal Minds? She had a tie to earlier in the series’ run, but last week on CBS, she returned. Her mission was clear, and it was to infiltrate Reid’s world and abduct his mother Diana … but this was not the first time that he saw her, either. When she arrived to prison under the guise of nurse “Carol Atkinson,” Spencer recognized her as the woman down in Mexico who he recognized. She’s somehow involved in what is happening to her, but it’s not entirely clear just yet how.

Ultimately, we like to think that the video sneak peek below serves as a nice resource for a little bit of additional insight into the manhunt that the BAU has going on already for Lindsey. The team is wasting no time in trying to identify Lindsey, her past, and some of her possible motives and where she could be. A part of what makes her appearance on the show so interesting is that she’s got such a long period of missing time that the team can’t account for; maybe somewhere in there lies the answer as to what is going on with her, but finding said answer is not going to be all that easy for anyone on the team to find.

One other thing about this sneak preview that is so interesting from the vantage point of Spencer Reid is that the team decides, at least for now, that there isn’t much in the way of good that is going to come from cluing him in as to what is going on with his mother. It’s not out of malice so much as it is awareness that there is only so much that he can do from afar. With that, they are for now understandably trying to focus on finding her so that they have some information to hand over.

Given that Jane Lynch is not seemingly appearing on Wednesday’s episode, it’s hard to feel optimistic that she is being found in the immediate future. On the flip side, we do know that she will be around for the finale in a little bit over a week. This does mean that you have something more to look forward to pertaining to the show.
