The Voice: Christina Grimmie’s family set to appear
What we know right now when it comes to specifics is that her family will appear on the results show Tuesday; per a press release, there will be “a very special announcement” that is made on the show. While we’re not sure what it will be, she does have a posthumous album coming out on June 2 entitled All is Vanity containing material that was recorded prior to her death.
The June 2 release date for All is Vanity is no coincidence, given that June 2 is also National Gun Violence Awareness Day. Grimmie was shot and killed last year while at a fan event in Florida, and it was a death that sent shock-waves across the entire Voice fan community. She was one of the show’s most popular contestants both during and after her season, and her passing was a sad reminder both of the dangers that gun violence still presents, and also the tight-knit community that exists across the show’s contestant base. If someone within it dies, many former contestants feel the pain since they came to know her on a personal level through all of their shared experiences.
We will have some further news on The Voice as we get closer to the episode, including some song spoilers and iTunes results leading up to the first results show. As per usual, the link here is where you can go in order to follow some of the latest news. We’ll have more on the announcement after it ends up airing.
Our thoughts and well-wishes do continue to go out to Grimmie’s family during what still has to be a tough time. This music may reopen some old wounds, even if it allows them a chance to share Christina’s music with her fans. (Photo: NBC.)
