Britain’s Got Talent: Just Us receives Alesha Dixon Golden Buzzer
What made this group special? As with almost any other Golden Buzzer (at least the ones handed down by any judge other than David Walliams), it begins with the talent itself. These five girls were tremendous dancers, and they brought a lot of passion, technique, and emotion to what they were doing out on the floor. We admire their determination, and that they chose a style that allowed their personalities to shine. It also benefited them heavily that there were only five of them. We tend to get a little bit underwhelmed by large dance crews where we don’t really have a proper opportunity to get to know everyone.
Also, what was also so effective about the Just Us performance was the whole story behind it, as one of the dancers suffers from scoliosis and is going to be getting an operation that could make her better, but could also completely render her ability to dance. The Britain’s Got Talent performances are really a last big hurrah from her, and Alesha felt for that struggle of having something that one of these girls loved taken away from them.
As for how well they will fare in the live shows, much of that will probably be based on how Just Us diversifies from their previous act. Ironically, Diversity is one of the few dance crews that were able to do enough during their appearances on the show that they managed to win the whole thing — for most crews, though, they face a struggle where they have to find a way to stand out in the live shows and often suffer with some of the comparisons to what they did before.
In the end, though, we’ll wait and see what happens. For now, we’re just grateful for the chance to watch the talent and have a really fantastic TV moment.
