NCIS season 14 episode 21 promo: Torres, Gibbs at odds
In the video below, you can see just how important this episode will be for Wilmer Valderrama’s character of Nick Torres, as he will be forced to rely on some of his undercover skills in order to get the job done. However, at the same time this case is going to touch on some of the major themes that we’ve seen with this character all season — namely, we’re talking here about the fact that he often chooses to follow the beat of his own drum, and do things his way rather than how the team normally works.
In doing what he does in this episode, be prepared for there to be questions of trust, and concerns over proper procedure. He could go off the rails so much that Gibbs is forced to confront him inside a trapped elevator, making sure he knows precisely what he’s up to. What’s great about this sort of scene is that it could give some better material for Mark Harmon to work with than what we’ve seen from him since he went off the grid earlier this season. While the team does often face conflict on the show, they tend to be largely simpatico with each other. That’s going to change over the course of this coming episode as there will be more internal strife than usual.
Even the title for Tuesday episode in “One Book, Two Covers” is really a good testament to the sort of duplicity we’re going to be seeing from the Torres character. He’s a master at taking on different identities — he had to, given the work that he was doing before he was a part of the NCIS team — but there are some pretty severe disadvantages that could come along with that. Ultimately, be prepared for some of these concerns to play out since the home base has to know where he is and where he stands.
By the end of the episode, we expect a more cohesive unit over at NCIS with Torres and the rest of the team — provided, of course, that Nick plans to stick with them.
