NCIS: Los Angeles filming locations: Viewers exposed to the best of LA
In the TV world there are so many possibilities to enhance a show, including using CGI, to create a background. Instead of making it up, NCIS: Los Angeles actually uses local places and common backdrops to entice viewers week after week. It’s got to be a challenge to film around millions of people, but NCIS: Los Angeles makes it look painless.
Over the past few seasons, the show featuring Los Angeles has taken the viewers all over the city. From the Port of Los Angeles to the downtown area where the skyscrapers kiss the sky, from the Hollywood and Vine tourist area to Fisherman’s Village in Marina del Rey. Each of these small, unique places are an accurate reflection of a pocket in the Metroplex known as Los Angeles.
Some shows think they can throw in a few background videos (or B-roll, as they like to call it in the entertainment business), and fans won’t care. For real fans, it does matter. Viewers do care and when shows like NCIS Los Angeles go the extra mile, it’s greatly appreciated. There are interior scenes filmed at a studio, but this is a show that loves to get outdoors to make things authentic.
As for locals like myself, when I see iconic places near the Shoreline Village in Long Beach or the 777 Tower in downtown Los Angeles, it’s motivation for me to get out and explore the city. Not only do I love the show, but also Los Angeles.
Every good show becomes a plug for the area they are named after. If I was running the chamber of commerce, I’d make NCIS Los Angeles an honorary member as they promote the city in a positive way every week. And, I’d offer up a little tour to showcase every bad guy caught on NCIS: Los Angeles. Then again, I’m just a fan. I will have to drive myself around to see all the filming locations, but I am happy to do it!
