Blindspot season 2: Is Archie Panjabi leaving the show?
However, it does put the future of Nas in doubt. Is Archie Panjabi leaving the show? For the time being, it looks that way, but show creator Martin Gero did offer up a little bit of hope in a new postmortem via Entertainment Weekly:
“…All I’ll say is this is not the last you’ll see of Archie, I think. When we were lucky enough to cast her, we kept expanding her role, because she’s so great and we love having her. Usually, with a character like this, we’d kill [her] off, but we just love having her around so much, and we didn’t need someone to die at this particular moment, so we left it with a question mark. She’s still very much out in the world on Blindspot, and hopefully situations will line up and she’ll maybe be able to come back and do some more.”
Ultimately, it’d be a surprise to us if Nas returns in the next couple of episodes, but anything can happen, right? It’d be rather fun to see her make a surprise appearance in the finale. We’re hoping that the show does get renewed by NBC for a third season, and at that point, all bets are off.
The one thing we do know is that between this and then The Good Wife, it’s starting to feel rather painful to have to keep saying goodbye to Archie on some various shows. We just want to see her stay somewhere for a little while!
What the exit of Nas does do at this point is potentially reunite the Task Force more than ever before, and potentially even give a tighter bond to Jane and Weller. It’s possible that some sort of romance could bloom anew between the two characters, but we’ll be waiting for a little while to see for sure.
