MasterChef Junior exclusive: Gonzalo fights to re-enter competition (video)
In the exclusive sneak preview below, you can see Gonzalo in particular fight to re-earn a spot in the competition after being previously eliminated. He and many other young home cooks are back in the kitchen tonight looking to get that honor, and they’ll be fighting tooth and nail to get that spot back.
Specifically, what you’re going to be seeing from Gonzalo is him doing what he can to mix things up in terms of his arsenal of techniques. He’s decided to cook his first Asian-inspired dish, hoping that showing this sort of range will be enough to impress the judges and prove that he’s worthy of a second chance. He also talks a bit with Richard Blais in the sneak peek about why he wants to prove himself — as a fellow nerd, hearing him talk about the hardships of being a nerd makes him all the more endearing to us.
We’d like to see Gonzalo go back in the kitchen, but this is the sort of show where you want that for pretty much everyone. You don’t want to root against kids; you only want them to succeed. Plus, there is something that is very fun and inspiring in terms of storytelling about someone getting previously eliminated, and then watching them find a way to crawl their way back into the competition and succeed. This is a story that is very easy to get behind if you enjoying cheering for the underdog.
In the end, we’ll find out what happens tonight — be on the lookout for our full review for the episode over the next couple of days. We’re in the midst of a busier time, so it may be a little longer than usual before the review is up.
For now, be sure to tell us in the comments who you think should be coming back into the kitchen tonight!
