Black Sails season 4 episode 10 (series finale) spoilers: Flint’s last stand
How will this end? You can assume that we’re going to get a chance to see some characters die, just as some others are going to be facing a dark, dangerous future. We do think that in almost every form of the pirate genre there is an undercurrent of reality, a ticking clock that this way of life has an expiration date. We’ve seen that with colonialism and the battle between pirates and nations, and we feel like this specter is going to specifically shine through the closing minutes of this episode.
Black Sails season 4 episode 10 synopsis – “Flint makes a final push to topple England; Silver seals his fate; Rackham confronts Rogers; Nassau is changed forever.”
Those final four words are the ones that ring the most true to us, at least in that the Nassau that these characters knew is quickly going away.
As for what this show’s legacy will be in the end, we don’t think that the finale will change that one way or another. This will be considered (in our eyes) the greatest pirate series of all time, and one that did the best at combining legend and history, turning it into something captivating and fantastic, much like Vikings has done on the History channel. There are some shows that we remain concerned about in terms of whether or not they make the journey worth it; here, that’s less of a concern. It’s more about the enjoyment of the journey and a fitting ending to that journey and with Black Sails, we feel confident that we are going to get that.

Watched from episode 1. This ending rivals the reboot of Battlestar Galactica for worst series ending ever. Very disappointed.
