Marvel’s Inhumans lands reported premiere date, IMAX screening date
Per the Twitter post from Marvel below, the two-episode IMAX version of the series is going to be taking place beginning on September 1. It will then run for a limited period of time. Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter claims that the series itself is going to be coming onto ABC starting on September 26. The show will run for eight consecutive weeks on Tuesday night, and then go off into the sunset. It remains to be seen if this is going to be airing in the timeslot currently occupied by Agents of SHIELD, a show that is currently facing an unknown future.
The path of Inhumans to television was certainly an unusual one, given that it began as a part of the final current phase of Marvel Studios’ film efforts. However, this said plan was eventually changed up. Given the presence of Inhumans on SHIELD, it does make a little bit of sense that the story of Black Bolt and the Royal Family be told on television. We’re certainly excited now that we know that Anson Mount of Hell on Wheels was the leading man. He’ll bring a lot of charisma and power to the role.
In the end, though, it’s still too early to know whether or not Inhumans could be a hit, but the show is ultimately one that could be very important for Marvel. After all, the comic company’s had a little bit of an uneven year so far. Remember that Iron Fist did not receive the best of receptions from critics, and in looking back to the fall Doctor Strange did not exactly score fantastic reviews across the board. In between this and volume two of Guardians of the Galaxy coming up later this year, there are some great things coming that could start to score some big wins for the company.
As a whole, we figure simply that Inhumans is going to prove itself to be a great time — we just hope that they don’t expect huge things for the ABC premiere with so many people watching the episodes in advance in IMAX.
