Pretty Little Liars season 7: Be prepared for more Emison before series finale

We are inching ever closer to the series finale a little bit later this year, and we all know that there are many interesting story threads that are going to need to be resolved before we get any further. The relationship between Emily and Alison, in the end, is just one key piece to the couple. We’ve seen the relationship grow and develop, but we haven’t quite made it to the point yet where they are officially together … even if they’ve had their fair share of romantic moments.

Will this full-fledged relationship come? There are no guaranteed, but show creator Marlene King made it clear at PaleyFest this weekend that this is something that the show is interested in exploring over the final ten episodes. Here is what she had to say, per Entertainment Weekly:

“Alison sort of hasn’t dealt with her sexuality, and these [remaining] episodes are about Alison trying to figure out what her sexuality is — and Emily plays a big part of that.”

We do hope that the show builds towards some sort of happy ending for these two characters, especially when you consider for a moment or two the notion that with Spencer / Toby, Aria / Ezra, and Hanna / Caleb, you’ve got three other potential couples who could end the series happy. It’d be a shame to see the show’s LGBTQ relationship get shafted in some way in the closing episodes, even if this one is not anywhere near as stable as some of the others. Emily’s personal life is the one that’s clearly been in the most flux. There was a time in the early going of the series where we felt like her endgame was with Maia, and then there was a time when it looked like it was going to be her and Paige. It’s changed now yet again, but this may have been the favored endgame of many all along in the first place.
