Hawaii Five-0 season 7 finale filming; Julie Benz shares photo
In a post on Instagram (see below), you can see none other than Julie Benz while out on the beach in Hawaii, where she is back in the role of Abby. Her return is something that was revealed a little while ago to be happening, and it’s easy to feel nothing other than joy about it. It’s a chance to get a little more of Chin’s love-life onscreen, and that’s not something that we’ve had a lot of this season.
One of the biggest reasons for Benz’s absence is simply the fact that she was off filming Training Day for most of the season, but filming for that project is now officially over. (Unfortunately, the same can probably be said for the show based on some of the latest numbers there.)
As for what specifically Abby is doing in this episode, or what the overall arc of the finale will be, you’ll probably have to wait for a while in order to check that out. The biggest thing that we can hope for is that it’s exciting, it pays off much of this season (which may be the strongest yet for the whole show), and that it sets up the eighth season that we (insert cheers here) know for sure is coming up now. Having this sort of advance knowledge makes it so much easier to relax and enjoy these upcoming episodes … not that we ever had that much doubt in general that the shoe was coming back, given that most of the ratings and buzz seemed to indicate that there would be many more great stories to tell. Let’s hope that Benz will find a way to continue to be a part of the show, even if it’s just for an episode here or there.
