TV Madness 2017: Outlander, Major Crimes clash in Round Two battle

Outlander and Major Crimes -

The first two battles in Round Two of our TV Madness 2017 tournament have featured shows that, by and large, faced some competition in their first-round showdowns. This time around, the situation’s a little bit different. Outlander and Major Crimes completely crushed who they were up against this past time around, winning by well over 90% of the vote on each occasion. These two shows each have fantastic fan bases; in other words, we wouldn’t be shocked if this one was more competitive.

Let’s get into profiling now these two contenders, who will be fighting to face off against the winner of the two contenders we’ll be spotlight tomorrow.

Outlander (#1 seed) – We made it clear last time that we firmly expected the Starz series and its fans to cruise over Doctor Who, given that this is the reigning champion of the tournament, and that it was up against a show that doesn’t have a proven voting base (even if it is popular in the ratings). There are few followings out there as devoted or supportive, and much of that stems from the quality of the show and of the source material. A show has to inspire you to get more involved in supporting it, and Outlander does that by providing escapism on an epic scale. Plus, voting gets the word out on the show even more leading up to season 3.

Major Crimes (#5 seed) – Meanwhile, the appeal of Major Crimes stems largely from its ability to tell strong police stories that adhere to some of the traditional crime-TV models, while also focusing them through the lens of specific characters you care about, people who feel unique to this world. The voting block here is likely aided further by the sole fact that they are such underdogs and are under-the-radar as opposed to many of the larger shows on TV. There’s a sentiment that the show doesn’t get the love or the respect it deserves from the media, and that inspires them to fight harder.

Now, we turn this over to you! The same rules apply here that did during round one — vote however often you’d like in the poll below! A couple of things to remember here:

-For repeat voting, you may need to either clear your cache or try a different browser or device.

Happy voting! The results between Outlander and Major Crimes will be announced on March 22, which is when the next showdown will take place.
