Big Brother Canada 5: Jackie McCurrach pre-game interview (exclusive)
There are a couple of things in this Jackie McCurrach pre-game interview that we do find fascinating, so without further ado, let’s dive right in!
CarterMatt – What made you want to try out for Big Brother Canada?
Jackie McCurach – I wanted to try out because I don’t have anything under my belt that I can look back and be excited to tell people! I haven’t traveled, and I haven’t done anything huge in my life. I want to have a memorable [experience] that I can share for the rest of my life.
If you could compare yourself to someone from Big Brother Canada or Big Brother US, who would it be?
Probably Cassandra from last season. She’s not afraid to tell you straight to your face what’s up, and she can also be really silly. I feel like I can be silly and weird, too (laughs).
What’s something about you that would surprise people?
I do have a fiery side. When people first meet me, they don’t think that I can have a b–chy side, but I do.
Do you have a specific strategy entering the house?
I would first like to introduce myself to everybody, and from there I want to feel out who I can trust. I want to get a workout buddy, since I feel like I can build a good relationship with someone from that. Then, I want to find a cooking buddy because I’m terrible at cooking. I want someone to teach me and a relationship could form that way.
How are you going to implement that strategy?
I’m going to ask people what they’re interests are, straight-up if they like cooking or if they don’t. I’ll get to know them on a more personal level that way, so I can trust them and they can trust me, as well.
What do you think your biggest weakness could be?
It’s my memory. I’ve got a terrible memory and I am constantly forgetting things, so I am really nervous about any mental competitions where I’m going to have to look back. Or, if someone says that I said something, it’s very possible that I forget that I said it.
Is there anything that you’re nervous about entering the house?
I’m definitely nervous about not having any contact with the outside world, and not speaking to my friends and family for support. I’m also nervous about any competitions! I don’t know how I’m going to do in them.
Other than winning the money, what’s the one thing you’re hoping to get out of this experience? Are you hoping for fame, romance, or just a good experience?
No romance — I’ve got a boyfriend of five years. But, I’d love some friendships either with people from BC or around Canada. I’d like to get to know a wider variety of people in my life.
Our snap judgment
The biggest issue for Jackie right away is that it’s going to be totally awkward if she runs around asking people if they can cook. (Yes, it’s terribly ironic that a pizza maker doesn’t have any cooking skills.) Also, a workout buddy’s not a great alliance partner since everyone sees you together all of the time. We do like her as a person and think that her motivation to get on the show for a great life experience is very pure. We hope that she gets that, but we don’t see her being someone cutthroat enough to be able to take home the prize. (We do think that she could make it far, though.)
