The Flash season 3, episode 15 review: Where is Wally West? A Savitar battle

Where is Wally West -

Tonight’s new episode of The Flash season 3 started with tremendous news for all fans of Barry and Iris — the two parties are officially now engaged! He revealed the big news, and the entire team celebrated … though to be fair Joe questioned why he didn’t do the traditional thing and ask for permission in advance.

Well, let’s just make it clear that the engagement may not be a long-lasting or happy one just yet. Remember those visions of Savitar from the future? Well, Barry did not detect a ring on Iris’ finger, and this meant to him that if he could change their relationship status, he could alter the future. This was a smart idea, but also a rash, impulsive, and pretty insensitive one since relationships are not the sort of stuff that you tend to mess around with at all.

Iris did give Joe a little bit of trademark father / daughter bonding, and helped to make her feel a little bit. In the end, she decided to have a conversation with him where she concluded that the engagement wasn’t something she was comfortable with (for now), just because of the fact that it wasn’t 100% real.

Caitlin’s secret

Remember the prophecy that one member of the team would betray everyone? Well, it turns out that this said person was Caitlin, given that she was found to be in possession of (a small part) of the Philosopher’s Stone. she revealed the news to Julian, who’d been spending all this time trying to be somewhat less cranky and also interested in Caitlin on some sort of romantic level. When she admitted to the rest of the team what happened, she claimed that she did it in order to try and get rid of her powers.

The wrath of Savitar

There’s a link between Wally and the God of Speed. He’s seeing Savitar, and for the longest time he refused to say anything about it at all. He even told Jesse that he could handle it himself, and that proved to be a terrible choice given that Savitar eventually confronted him and he realized that he couldn’t control it anymore.

While Wally suffered, Barry did his best to communicate with Savitar and figure out how defeat him. We learned through Julian, serving once again as the vessel, that he’s planning a big return, and that all would be revealed soon. There is a connection that he has to Barry from the future, but the nature of the big confession is TBA.

The culmination of everything, at least for now, took place when eventually Savitar took Wally into the Speed Force, and climbed out, proclaiming that he was free. That’s not good for anyone. He attacked Barry, but we give him a little bit of credit given that he went hard at Savitar and ended up shattering his arm in the process. Where is Wally West now? As we said, he’s off in the Speed Force, and we have to wait and see if he can be rescued. Consider that your latest super-epic cliffhanger, and it sets up the next episode in as awesome a fashion as possible. Episode Grade: B+.

Next week

Barry is going to venture into the Speed Force hoping to find some more answers on Savitar. You can get a little bit more insight into this by heading over to the link here.
