Should Patsy return to Call the Midwife in finale, season 7?

Should Patsy return -

There is one only one more episode in Call the Midwife season 6, and the time feels right to wonder: Should Patsy return in the finale?

Based on what we saw during the preview for the next episode at the end of tonight, we did get a small sign that the character could be coming back. This isn’t a whole lot to go on, but at the same time we had to ultimately think that they wouldn’t show us Delia focusing on the letters unless Patsy was going to be coming back to the story in some shape or form.

When we last saw Emerald Fennell on the show, we did not get any sign that she was leaving the show for good. Nobody seems to be saying that she’s gone, and given the reason why Patsy left (to care for her ailing father in Hone Kong), there was never any sign at all that her appearance was meant to be a fond farewell.

If Patsy were to return in the finale, what that would offer is a chance to bring her story full-circle. She did what she needed to do in order to properly take care of someone she has affection for, and she could be ready to come back and resume her life. We know that there are people out there who want to see her and Delia have some happiness — they are one of the longstanding couples on the show, and they are also two people who’ve certainly been through quite a bit and then some since the series first began. They deserve a chance to be happy.

If Patsy does not return in the finale, there is going to be a chance to potentially see her turn up either in the Christmas Special later this year, or the upcoming seventh season! One way or another, we have a feeling that she’ll be coming back.
