MacGyver season 2 renewal: How to make it happen on CBS
We should begin here by noting that if you just continue to watch live, then you’re probably doing at the very least enough to get the renewal. While we hesitate to utter the words “sure thing” for any show, there are reasons to feel confident. The drama starring Lucas Till, George Eads, and Justin Hires is averaging above CBS’ timeslot last year; more than that, it is helping to elevate the performance of Hawaii Five-0 after it. While there are likely many costs associated with a show this explosive, there’s enough ratings steam behind the show to feel confident that it will come back.
For the record, the latest CBS could report a standard renewal is May. Given the performance of the show to date, we imagine that the good news will be handed out before then.
Just in case both you and the show itself want to go the extra mile, we’ve come up with a pair of additional things that can be done.
For viewers, turn the show into more of a community – Try to live-tweet as often as you can, talk often about what you enjoy the most about the show, and allow it to be an interactive experience. Be sure to keep things fun and in the spirit of the show. The larger CBS thinks that the fan community is, the more promotion that they’ll be likely to give the show. Tell your friends to watch it and watch it live! We do think it’s improved significantly since the start, so there may be a way to convince some viewers who previously tuned out on the show to watch again.
For the show itself, emphasize the recurring villains – This is a little hard to offer as advice given that the scripts for season 1 are already written; however, if this wasn’t the case this is what we would be advising. Bring in more Murdoc, and find a way to integrate the Colton Family once more. We’d even be open to more Thornton if she finds a way to break out of prison.
For the record, we know that Murdoc will be coming back for at least one more episode this season. Hopefully, this is something that becomes a tradition for some time to sprinkle in these villains on a few different episodes a season.

I love this show and I think it has improved so much. I am in the sought after demo and I love Jack and Mac. I want a little more focus on them, and though I so appreciate the lightheartedness, I love the depth we have caught glances of here and there. Like Mac’s past and Jacks scenes when he talks about his Dad. I love Bozer in the lab and Riley in the van. I think sometimes it gets confusing when everyone is in the field. I think Jack needs a more defined role as they have seemed to move away from him being Macs protector- which I loved. Not that I want Mac to be weak but I also don’t want Jack as just the comic relief. I like how they have used Matty so far, but more Murdoc and no Nikki sounds great to me.
