‘How to Get Away with Murder’ season 4 premiere date hopes; when will Viola Davis return?

Tonight, the season 3 finale of “How to Get Away with Murder” ended with a flourish, and with a lot of drama. Now, we’re left to wonder what the ‘How to Get Away with Murder’ season 4 premiere date will be…

Before we move forward, let’s backtrack for a minute in saying that the first thing you SHOULD know is that the show is in fact coming back. This is 100% confirmed, so there’s nothing to worry about there. Even with lower ratings for the third season for the most part, this remains an extremely valuable commodity for ABC, and a show that they are not going to be looking to kick to the curb at any point in the near future. Let’s just hope that now, we’re going to get a season 5 to go along with it!

Let’s get back now to the question of when more so than if. In the past, ABC has opted to premiere the show in late September, alongside many of their other premieres. There’s little reason for this to change now, given that this is a show that relishes being in that spot, and continues to capitalize well on the #TGIT lineup and what airs before it. We suppose that the only real mystery here is if we’re going to get “Scandal” airing before it.

The Viola question

How long will Viola Davis continue to want to do the show? There’s nothing wrong with asking the question, given that she is about to win an Oscar (most likely) and she has all of the options in the world. The big reason to be confident that she’ll stick with the show in the long-term is because it’s structured in a way that she won’t have that big of a thirst to leave. She can do fifteen episodes of the show, take off to do something else, and then come back for the next season. There’s more flexibility here than with the standard 22-episode contract that most network stars have.
