‘Fargo’ season 3 official premiere date confirmed by FX
It’s been a long while since we’ve had a chance to report on just about anything when it comes to “Fargo” on FX, but today, that ends! The network confirmed today that the third season of the anthology series is going to premiere on Wednesday, April 19 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time.
The reason for the long delay between one season and the next of this show is actually rather simple to explain: The weather. Because of the chilly temperatures required to make this show authentic, the production had to wait until the colder climate rolled into Alberta (where the series films) in order to make things work. We’re fine with waiting for quality, so here’s to hoping that this proves to be very much worthwhile. (Filming, for the record, is still going on north of the border.)
For those who have not heard all that much as of yet regarding the story of the third season, the network was rather kind when it comes to dishing out all of the finer details:
“Set in 2010, the third installment of Fargo centers on “Emmit” and his slightly younger brother “Ray Stussy” (Ewan McGregor). Emmit, the Parking Lot King of Minnesota, sees himself as an American success story, whereas Ray is more of a cautionary tale. Forever living in his more successful brother’s shadow, Ray is a balding and pot-bellied parole officer with a huge chip on his shoulder about the hand he’s been dealt – and he blames his brother. Their sibling rivalry follows a twisted path that begins with petty theft but soon leads to murder, mobsters and cut-throat competitive bridge. Carrie Coon stars as “Gloria Burgle,” the steady chief of the local police department. A newly divorced mother, Gloria is trying to understand the new world around her, where people connect more intimately with their phones than with the people around them. Mary Elizabeth Winstead stars as Ray’s girlfriend, “Nikki Swango,” a crafty and alluring recent parolee with a passion for competitive bridge. David Thewlis stars as “V.M. Vargas,” a mysterious loner and true capitalist whose bosses plan to partner with Emmit, whether “The Parking Lot King” likes it or not.”
This show’s got just about everything that you could possibly want to see in it, whether it be a fantastic cast or an interesting story that will give us the most contemporary version of the series yet. It’s far enough in the past that we’ll have some perspective, but not so far that it feels like distant history.
