‘Arrow’ season 5: Should this title have you considered over team’s future?
For most of “Arrow” season 5, Oliver Queen’s had his own version of the Avengers going on, given that we’ve seen Team Arrow go from being a three or four-person job to a miniature army. We of course have the original crew of Oliver, Diggle, and Felicity, and then you add to it people such as Rory, Rene, and now Dinah Drake. Evelyn Sharp was a part of the crew for a while … but you all know how that ended and we don’t really want to put you in the mood where you relive those betrayal-memories.
Now, you have to start to wonder if much of this teamwork and glorious camaraderie is going to come to a screeching halt. For a little more information on this very thing, we point you to the Twitter post below via none other than executive producer Marc Guggenheim — “Disbanded” is the title for the 18th episode of the season, and that should give you an indication of just what sort of division COULD be coming your way — and sooner rather than alter.
Why would the team disband? The biggest reason would be that they’re just not getting along, but you also could view this title as a ruse designed to very-carefully throw you off the scent. It’s very well possible that they’re still as strong as ever, but they want to throw Prometheus, who is somewhat of a trickster (maybe he learned a thing or two from THE Trickster) off of the scent somehow.
We know that there are some people out there who are very much “Original Team Arrow or Bust,” and we absolutely do get where that sentiment is coming from. Yet, at the same time we do think that the new crew has brought some value — for example, this past episode of the show “Spectre of the Gun” was a writing tour de force and an excellent performance from Rick Gonzalez. Without Wild Dog, there’s no way that this would’ve happened and we would’ve gotten a chance to see how this show, despite all of the supernatural elements that pop up here and there, is still grounded in a certain sort of reality.
